Earth Networks Now Accepting Proposals

by |March 9, 2021

The Earth Institute is now accepting proposals for its Earth Networks program. The Earth Networks provide a framework of support for interdisciplinary collaboration across Columbia University, to promote fresh approaches to research, education and impact on themes related to climate, sustainability and the future of planet Earth. Networks can be formed around any interdisciplinary topic that relates to the Earth Institute’s mission.

The Earth Institute has five active networks on:

Although many of these have a strong component of direct societal impact, networks will also be considered if they are needed to bring together researchers from different parts of the university to work on more fundamental discovery research.

This year, while proposals across any theme will be considered for funding, the Earth Institute is particularly interested in proposals for networks around: decarbonization; disaster resilience; coastal resiliency; circular economy; mental health and climate.

Funding is in the amount of $50,000 over three years. Network proposals are due to Hayley Martinez at hmartinez@ei.columbia.edu by COB Friday, April 23, 2021. At least one proposed co-director must be affiliated with the Earth Institute. Guidelines and more information about proposal submissions can be found here.
